Yolanda Gómez receives the KPMG/Rosa del Río Prize for her journalism career

The Undersecretary of Economy and Business Support, Israel Arroyo Martínez, held the VII KPMG/Rosa del Río Prize for economic journalism to Yolanda Gómez, deputy director of ABC.

In this seventh edition, the prize went to Yolanda Gómez for her rigor and analytical skills during her extensive career in economic journalism, mainly developed at the ABC newspaper, where she is currently deputy editor-in-chief.

Yolanda Gómez adds her name to that of Mariano Guindal, Miguel Ángel Noceda, Rosa María Sánchez, Salvador Arancibia, Carlos Sánchez and Ignacio Rodríguez Burgosawarded in the six previous editions.

In her speech, the winner emphasized that despite the continued difficulties of the media, especially the print press, in defining a profitable business model, journalism is more vibrant than ever. Yolanda Gómez affirmed the essence of traditional journalism and its ethics, defending the need to confirm and contrast the news before publishing it, regardless of the format in which the information is disseminated, the need to take to the streets and be in touch stand with the news and with its protagonists. This, he said, is what guarantees and will guarantee our credibility and that of our media and will distinguish us from those who use social networks to spread deception.

Graduated in Information Sciences from Complutense University of MadridYolanda Gómez started her journalistic career in local media New Alcarria.In 1988 it started its journey inwards ABC, first as an intern and then as an editor in the Economics section and in this newspaper she developed her entire professional career. The KPMG/Rosa del Río Prize for Economic Journalism was created in 2018 with the aim of “highlighting journalistic careers or works related to economic, financial and/or stock market information that deserve it for their talent, originality, informative spirit, didactic power or ability to overcome pressure.
