The neighbors of Amsterdam reacted with bewilderment to the city council's plan to end what it sees as a scourge of messy pots and pans.
“Operation Pot”, as local media have dubbed it, is an initiative by the central district of the Dutch capital to regulate the pots that residents can use: two, maximum, and no larger than 50×50 centimetres. They must have been made of “sustainable” materials and can only be placed against the façade. According to the note summarising the measure, all flower pots placed in car parks, or under trees, will be confiscated.
