Democrats Use Chicago's Trump Tower to Project Anti-Republican Messages

Chicago's Trump Tower, which was encouraged to be built and is owned by former US President Donald Trump, was used by the Democratic Party on Sunday to project messages critical of Republicans.

The marketing campaign on one of the emblematic buildings of Donald Trump's economic empire is also being carried out as the city of Chicago prepares to inaugurate the Democratic National Convention (DNC) this Monday, where Donald Trump's candidacy will be made official. Kamala Harris for the US presidential elections in November.

Among the messages projected on the 1,450-foot-tall skyscraper are slogans supporting Democratic candidates like “Harris-Walz, joy and hope” and “Harris-Walz, fight for you!” and criticism of Republicans like “Trump-Vance, crazy” and “Trump-Vance, they work for themselves.”

The campaign in the iconic building, one of the tallest in the United States, was confirmed by the Democratic National Committee itself in a statement signed by its deputy communications director, Abhi Rahman.

“As Democrats across the country, united and energized behind Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz, gather for the Democratic National Convention, the DNC is projecting images on Trump Tower in Chicago that highlight the stark contrast between Harris-Walz and Trump-Vance’s formulas, including Trump and Vance’s dangerous Project 2025 agenda,” the memo said.

According to the statement, “Donald Trump and JD Vance (the Republican candidates) are only in it for their own benefit, determined to implement their dangerous Project 2025 agenda” which, according to the Democrats, would harm working families and take away their freedoms.

The city of Chicago has been protected since yesterday by a heavy police presence and security cordons ahead of the start of the Democratic National Convention on Monday and due to the anticipation of demonstrations with thousands of protesters against the role of the United States in the conflict in Gaza.

The heavy presence of Chicago police, both state and federal, is visible near the United Center and McCormick Place, where the Democratic Party will hold the conclave that will formalize on Thursday, with the final acceptance speech, the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris for the White House in the November elections.

Some 50,000 people gathered for the first fully in-person congress since the Covid-19 pandemic, including thousands of party delegates, volunteers and journalists from around the world.
