Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel in ‘another fix’ row as fans fume over show’s format

Fans of Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel have once again accused the BBC One game show of being “rigged” following tonight’s episode which saw a player called Harbi win £49,000.

Harbi was knocked off the wheel near the end of the show after getting a question about sharks incorrect. However, he had a one in three chance of making it back to the wheel for a final attempt at winning a cash prize.

He was chosen in a matter of seconds over two other players and went on to win big on the BBC show.

Fans flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, as they branded the show a “fix”. They also claimed last weekend’s instalment was “fixed” following another contestant’s huge success.

Mike fumed in light of his followers this evening: “#THEWHEEL Yet another FIX???”

Carla added: “That feels like a fix … 2x goes at the cash #thewheel.”

A disgruntled viewer said: “You can’t convince me this sh** isn’t rigged. #thewheel.”

Richard wrote: “Is there anyone who actually thinks the way they do the final bit of #thewheel is in any way fair and if so why are you so so wrong…”

A user called Di Taylor said: “Just like the other week! Get the question wrong and come back up #TheWheel.”

Keira suggested: “They should spin an actual wheel on the set so we can see how the contestants are chosen. Otherwise, it feels like a fix. #TheWheel.”

“What an emotional rollercoaster getting it wrong and coming back up, how are you feeling?” Michael asked Harbi following his victory.

An overwhelmed Harbi replied after taking a deep breath: “Do you know what? This is just life changing and it’s just going to make the whole buying a house process so much easier and much less stressful.

“I am really passionate about a small charity which I am a trustee for and I am going to give them some of this money.”

He explained to Michael and viewers at home that the charity he supports assists people who are experiencing isolation and loneliness.

“Harbi, you are a wonderful winner,” comedian Michael replied before adding: “Thank you to all of our experts, £49,000. Harbi ladies and gentlemen – bravo.”

Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel continues next Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
