Channel 4 News host Krishnan Guru-Murthy red-faced over Scoop blunder

Channel 4 presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy took to Twitter to show his followers the reason his outfit choice sent his co-workers into a frenzy. The Strictly Come Dancing star shared a snap of himself wearing a red jumper with a white stripe going through it.

On the jumper, it had black font which had the date 1970 on the front. However, what he didn’t realise is that his attire was recently seen in Netflix’s new film, Scoop.

Posting the image alongside Gillian Anderson, who plays BBC Newsnight journalist Emily Maitlis in the film, he saw the funny side of the coincidence. He wrote: “Haven’t watched Scoop yet.

“Wore this to the office today causing much amusement from colleagues who have. Am now on a train about to watch Scoop wondering which of my ties @maitlis wears too.”

It wasn’t before people commented on the slight blunder as many thought the coincidence was hilarious. Sam McAlister, who played a key role in obtaining the infamous Prince Andrew interview, even took a cheeky swipe at Krishnan.

She wrote: “If you’d like to borrow any of my outfits, do let me know [sic]”

@Tucker5law jibed: “When you’ve got Sam’s heels on, we expect photos.”

@M_Muscovitch added: “Love this.”

Speaking about the Netflix film, @ritasj65 commented: “Just watched it too, great viewing too.”

@maryliz87575119 added: “Watched last night and really enjoyed it.”

With @m_finchbags writing: “Watching it now! Gillian is good!”

Scoop dropped on the streaming service at the start of April and follows leading up to Prince Andrew’s explosive 2019 BBC Newsnight interview.

Speaking about her role in the film, Gillian Anderson told Netflix: “These women exist in real life, and they are women in a field that has been traditionally male-dominated.

“Having a story about their experience and having journalists like Emily Maitlis represented in film is important.

“What I love about this film is that all of the women sit prominently in the story; you see them all working together to bring this interview to light.”

Scoop is available to watch on Netflix.
