Former Death in Paradise star Adrian Schiller’s cause of death has been revealed as a ‘major ischaemic stroke’. The confirmation from his agent comes after the actor died, “unexpectedly” aged 60, on Wednesday 3 April.
The actor’s representation, Scott Marshall Partners, broke the news of his death earlier this month. At the time of their statement, they claimed that Adrian’s family and friends were “devastated by the loss”.
They told PA Media: “He has died far too soon, and we, his family and close friends are devastated by the loss. His death was sudden and unexpected and no further details about its cause are yet available.
“A prodigiously talented actor, he had just returned from Sydney, where he had been appearing in The Lehman Trilogy and was looking forward to continuing the international tour in San Francisco.” However, in a fresh update, the agency has revealed that the star suffered a major ischaemic stroke.
The latter occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is blocked or reduced, according to Mayo Clinic. This causes brain cells to decay “in minutes” as brain tissue is starved from getting oxygen and further nutrients.
Scott Marshall Partners also discussed details of the actor’s upcoming funeral. They stated that a memorial would take place in May, and that a larger “celebration of his life” would be held later in 2024.
The statement concluded: “While his death has left his family and friends shocked and grief-stricken, it is of some comfort to know that he will have died almost instantly and not felt any pain.”
Adrian is best known for starring in the BBC crime comedy series Death in Paradise and as Cornelius Penge in ITV’s Victoria.
