Saturday Night Takeaway viewers found themselves distracted as former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts made an appearance on the show, but appeared to have forgotten the bottom part of her outfit. The star was there to support Declan Donnelly in the final ever Ant vs Dec on the Ant and Dec hosted show.
It was her clothing that grabbed people’s attention though, as she appeared in a long sleeved blue knitted cardigan with black embellishments, which she teamed with what looked like matching woolen blue pants. She acessorised the racy outfit with black opaque tights.
Viewers were confused by the ensemble and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to have their say. @RacRoadside said: “Clearly old as I’ve no idea why ashley Roberts needs to be standing there in her pants #antandec #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”
@geordiejoolz commented: “I think Ashley Roberts has forgot to put her bottoms on #SaturdayNightTakeaway.” @teenamassam also observed: “Ashley forgot the bottom half of her outfit… #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”
@MacpacPS4 admitted: “I cant stop looking at Ashley. Outfit job done i guess. Who needs a skirt/pants, not Ashley!! #SaturdayNightTakeaway.” Meanwhile @fabfindsbynikki noticed a resemblance to a pop culture figure writing: “Did Ashley Roberts make her outfit out of the Cookie Monster?!? #SaturdayNightTakeaway”
@Dubstep1988 admitted their child agreed with this, chiming in: “Daughter keeps on saying; “Cookie Monster, Cookie Monster” every time Ashley Roberts comes on screen. Three years old and she’s already a savage mean girl. #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”
The final Ant vs Dec was a penalty shoot out and saw Declan win much to Ant’s chagrin. Stephen Mulhern dressed as a trophy for the occassion to introduce the competition.
The jam packed finale also saw them give away a huge amount of prizes to people at home and in the audience, who were spread throughout ITV’s Television Centre studios.
The popular Sing-Along-Live segment saw Tony Hadley, S Club and the Kaiser Chiefs take to the stage to sing their hits as a hopeful fan sang along hoping to win a “Takeaway Getaway.”
While Spandau Ballet’s Gold and S Club 7’s Reach For the Stars proved no issue for the contestants, the final player stumbled on the lyrics to I Predict a Riot. However they awarded him the holiday anyway.
Prior to the show, the pair had posted an emotional video to Instagram for their five million followers. “So rehearsals are underway for the last Saturday Night Takeaway,” a forlorn looking Ant said. He then turned to Dec and asked: “You alright there?” “I’m OK. Getting through it,” sighed Dec, looking visibly upset.
“We’re OK. It’s very sad,” Ant said, emotionally. “It’s a weird day isn’t it,” Dec chimed in. “It’s a really weird day. Really weird,” Ant agreed.
“But it’s going to be a great show. A two-hour extravaganza,” he promised, adding, “Fun times, guys. 7 o’clock. See you later.”
A huge variety of celebrities are helping the Geordie duo say farewell to the TV institution, including Simon Cowell, Girls Aloud, Amanda Holden and Rylan Clark.
