Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspect in the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, was arrested earlier. In 2002, he was charged with possession of weapons of mass destruction.

Roth is a builder and a registered Democrat.

That's according to North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections records, which show that despite the gravity of the crime, Routt got off with just a slap on the wrist — probation.

According to Department of Homeland Security“A weapon of mass destruction is a nuclear, radiological, chemical, biological or other device designed to cause harm to large numbers of people.”

Former FBI agent and justice donor NewsNation Jennifer Coffindaffer commented on the implications of such an accusation.

“Basically, it's a weapon that could be used to cause massive damage to any infrastructure or large populations,” she said. “It could be radiological, it could be chemical, it could be nuclear, it could be explosive. We don't know the exact details, but it's a very serious allegation.”

Rouse has a huge packing slip.

In accordance with NBC News“Court records show Ryan Routh has more than 100 criminal cases pending against him in North Carolina, most of them in Guilford County, which is home to Greensboro. The exact outcome of each case was not immediately clear Sunday.”

He was found guilty on multiple charges, including driving on a suspended license, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting an officer and fleeing the scene of an accident.

On Sunday, the danger Routh posed to the public and Trump became abundantly clear. The suspected shooter tried put pressure on the muzzle of an AK-type rifle through the perimeter fence of the Trump International Golf Club while Trump was playing golf.

A U.S. Secret Service agent opened fire on Routh before he could carry out his plot. Fortunately, no one was hurt, and Routh fled the scene, leaving behind a Go-Pro camera, an assault rifle, and two backpacks. Authorities believe these items indicate that Routh had carefully planned the attack.

How can a person convicted of possessing a weapon of mass destruction walk freely? Shouldn't people with a history of violent crime who possess such dangerous weapons be subject to stricter supervision?
