US first lady Jill Biden will attend the inauguration of Claudia Sheinbaum as the first president of Mexico on October 1, the White House announced on Wednesday.
The wife of President Joe Biden will lead the North American country's delegation, the full composition of which will be announced later, at an unspecified date. Sheinbaum will receive his inauguration in the legislative district of San Lázaro, in the House of Representatives, and then offer lunch to international guests in the National Palace.
The Mexican politician will become the first woman to take Mexico's mandate after winning the June 2 election against Xóchitl Gálvez with a record 36 million votes, nearly 60 percent of the vote.
