The Congress of Coahuila is analyzing the reform of the judicial branch with an open parliamentary approach

The Congress of Coahuila will examine the possibility of exercising an open parliament and take into account all the opinions involved when it comes time to adapt the local political constitution to the recently approved reform of the judicial branch at the federal level.

Local representative Gerardo Aguado Gómez reported that although the deadline for harmonization of laws and regulations at the local level is March 15, 2025, local congresses do not have a specific time frame to vote on reform or begin harmonization work.

“We only sent it into operation on Tuesday, This does not mean that you should vote, but that you should analyze, take as an example everything that has been done wrong at the federal level, and we have until March 15 that we have harmonized everything, but there are still no dates for the start of the route, but we want to do it well and nicely, because this is a constitutional mandate,” he explained.

He drew attention to the fact that, unlike the anomalies that occurred with the approval of the said reform at the federal level, the local legislators listen to the workers of the local justice system, as well as experts or experts in the case.

“A justice system will be created that, within the framework of the law and with possible adjustments, will truly perfect the judicial branch in Coahuila,” said Aguado Gómez.

He said the process will be clean, comprehensive and above all taking into account the comments of experts and listening to all sections of the population “Unlike the outcry at the federal level, where the opposition was not heard, the opinions of lawyers, jurists and professionals were taken into account.”

Gerardo Aguado pointed out that there is still no time to start the debate, since the approved reform has just been sent to the committee and has not been voted on, but a full analysis must be done, since the minutes have also arrived. unfinished.

“Deceptive Speech”

The local representative highlighted that President López Obrador always tried to legitimize and promote judicial reform with misleading speech, saying that he would end corruption and improve the justice system.

However, this reform does not affect this area, so if there is a need to improve the prosecution of crimes, then let's look at the prosecutor's offices, general of both republics and states, as well as public ministries.

“In practice, a good or bad investigative file is the starting point for the judge to pass the sentence. The judicial power should not be confused with the administration of justice,” he emphasized.

According to the PAN representative, the issue of corruption is just an excuse, which ensures that as long as the people elect the judges, corruption will end, as if the referendum were the panacea.
