Based on the book of the same name Marcelo Rubens Paiva, “I'm Still Here” was the film chosen to represent Brazil in the competition for a place at the Oscars. For the first time since then “Central Brazil” (1998), also from Walter Salles, the country has a real chance of being nominated for best international film. The film was also nominated for best director, screenplay and actress.

The feature film tells the story of a family Marcelo Rubens Paiva during the military dictatorship, when the writer's father was kidnapped, tortured and killed by the military. The story mainly focuses on the struggle of his mother, Eunice, to find out the whereabouts of her husband. The family was left without answers for decades.
The cast has Selton Mello, Marjorie Estiano, Humberto Carrão, Maeve Jinkins, Dan Stulbach, Thelmo Fernandes, Daniel Dantas, Charles Fricks e Maite Padilhain addition to a special appearance by Fernanda Montenegro.
