World Championship League of Legendswhich ended last Saturday (2), was the most watched eSports tournament of all time, according to data from Esports Graphics. The 2024 Words final surpassed the record of the 2023 final which reached a peak audience of around 6.4 million.
This year, the audience for the competition final was 6.9 million. The championship also broke the record for total viewing time, 191 million hours watched in 109 hours of viewing, surpassing the 2021 tournament's 174.8 million hours watched.
The Wolds 2024 final pits South Korean team T1 against Chinese team Bilibili Gaming. Both were ranked by Esports Charts as the most watched teams throughout the competition: T1 with 59.5 million hours watched and Bilibili Gaming with 51 million hours.
Viewership of the decision on YouTube reached more than 3.3 million, and on Twitch it was more than 2.5 million. The next edition of Words will take place in China, in the city of Chengdu.
