Lee Anderson has been ordered to apologize to the House for breaking intimidation and harassment rules after a parliamentary watchdog found he twice swore at security officers when his pass malfunctioned.
The British Reform MP allegedly told guards “go away, everyone opens the door for me, you are the only one” when he was told he needed to have his pass checked at the gates of the Westminster area.
Complaints about the November 3 incident were upheld by Parliament's standards commissioner.
Anderson initially appealed the findings to an Independent Expert Panel, but the panel dismissed his case.
He has since “accepted the Commissioner's finding that she had sworn at the complainant and that her behavior was a breach of the intimidation and harassment policy”, the panel said.
It said: “He also expressed a desire to apologise.
“The sub-panel accepted Mr Anderson's evidence that he faced 'challenging personal circumstances' on the day in question and his 'unacceptable behaviour' was 'not premeditated or premeditated'.”
