Montenegrin Prosecutor General Milorad Marković and Chief Prosecutor of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Milanko Kajganić signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the field of support for witnesses and victims in war crimes criminal proceedings, Montenegrin agency MINA reported for BTA.
According to a press release from the Montenegrin Prosecutor's Office, the document signed in Sarajevo provides for faster and more effective cooperation in war crimes cases.
The agreement also provides for the organization of testimony and participation in trials of witnesses, victims and victims of cases of war crimes committed in Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which witnesses and victims living and residing in other countries participate.
Markovic and Kajganic reportedly welcomed the European Court of Human Rights' ruling that found evidence obtained through encrypted apps to be valid and admissible.
“This is an important step in combating international organized crime in regional countries and strengthening the rule of law in Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the statement said.
