National Guard, mobilized in 15 states for election day

National Guard personnel were mobilized in the states of Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin and West Virginia.

Nearly half of the troops assist with cybersecurity missions, and the rest provide support based on local requests, the spokesperson said in a statement.

In addition, the National Guard Bureau said about 85 of its members were on standby in Colorado, Washington DC, Florida and Nevada.

At the end of the week, ahead of potential civil unrest caused by the presidential election, the National Guard said it was on standby as a precaution in several states, including Washington and Oregon, where hundreds of ballots were tampered with or destroyed after officials said in at least three new ballot drop boxes -recently burned.
