In October last year, studio WXCA won the competition for the development of an architectural concept along with the development of land for the reconstruction of the Saxon Palace, the Brühl Palace and the tenement at ul. Królewska in the center of Warsaw.
The author of the winning concept then showed a design based on a series of forms that show the state before the outbreak of war in 1939. Of course, this implied the preservation of the separate Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, in the condition we know today, as well as the exhibition of the crypt of the Saxon Palace, which is still has survived to this day (included in the list of monuments in 2007). One of the new elements is the plan to expand the row house on ul. Królewska 8, which resembles an openwork pergola entwined with plants. Today, you can see the crypts excavated in previous years and examined by archaeologists at Field Marshal Józef Piłsudski.
Work on the new contract is almost complete
Although a year has passed since the competition results were announced, no contract with the architectural design contractor has yet been signed.
When asked about this, Sławomir Kuliński, spokesperson for Pałac Saski, reminded that the first draft of this document was prepared at the turn of 2023/2024.
