Domestic airfares recorded a 14.7% decline in September, according to ANAC

The average price of a domestic flight ticket fell by 14.7% in September this year, compared to the same period last year, selling for R$666.01. According to the Ministry of Ports and Airports, the reduction in tariffs was influenced by this reduction in the average value of one liter of aviation kerosene.

According to data from the National Civil Aviation Agency, 46.4% of tickets sold in September this year were priced below R$500, while in the same period last year, the figure was 37.4%. Tickets sold for less than R$300 accounted for 20.3% this year and fares above R$1,500 represented 6.8% of the total.

The survey also showed that all regions of Brazil experienced a decrease in the average price of airline tickets. The Northern Region recorded the highest percentage decline in the indicator, namely 22%, followed by the Central-West Region (18.2%), Southeast (16.7%), Northeast (9.4%) and South (8.6%) . The results take into account the average price charged at the point of origin of the flight.

There was a marked decrease in ticket prices in 23 states and the Federal District. With an average of R$589.33, Mato Grosso do Sul was the location with the lowest prices charged in September, followed by Rio de Janeiro (R$590.74) and Minas Gerais (R$597.52).
