In Lebanon, Israeli strikes killed at least 40 people in the east of the country on Wednesday, the Lebanese Health Ministry said.

According to the ministry, more than 50 people were also injured in Israeli attacks on the Bekaa Valley and the city of Baalbek. The number of victims may still increase, because according to the ministry, rescue teams are still searching for survivors in the rubble.

The Israeli armed forces have not issued an evacuation warning in the area.

Attack near the airport

According to footage from the AFP news agency, Israel attacked the southern part of the capital Beirut on Thursday about an hour after Israeli armed forces asked residents in the area to leave. AFP footage showed several columns of smoke rising above southern Beirut, and journalists also heard loud explosions.

Al-Jazeeran according to Israeli fighter jets “very intensively” bombing the area near Beirut International Airport.

Israel has been attacking, for example, southern Lebanon, the capital Beirut and the eastern Bekaa Valley since late September.
