Two French officials sent to a historical site in Jerusalem were arrested by Israeli police, Reuters reported, citing French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barot.
The incident occurred when Baro wanted to visit the Our Father Church complex which is located on the Mount of Olives in the historic eastern part of the city.
Baro told reporters that the Israeli government's actions were unacceptable, adding that he refused to enter the site to protest the Israeli police presence. The French Foreign Ministry said Israel's ambassador to Paris would be summoned in the coming days.
