French forward Kylian Mbappe, who plays for Real Madrid, was not included in France's squad for the UEFA Nations League match against Israeland Italy. Coach Didier Deschamps said the decision was only taken once without citing injury-related reasons.
Mbappe recently appeared in the Champions League in his team's match against AC Milan in Madrid. Deschamps stated that the player “would like to go” with the national team, but added that the choice not to call him up was a one-off decision and there were no other long-term implications for Mbappe's role in the French national team.
The decision was taken ahead of an important match for France in the Nations League, but the coach did not provide further details regarding the selection criteria or possible rotation of top players.
