Polregio will not replace old trains with new trains

The situation of Polregio's rolling stock changed significantly thanks to funding from the National Reconstruction Plan. In March, after the EU Transport Projects Center announced the results of the competition… joint financing purchasing vehicles for regional railways, the carrier reports that the company has been the largest beneficiary of the program. At that time, 10 applications for co-financing of 98 trains worth PLN 780 million were received.

It turned out that the company could use KPO money to buy far fewer trains – only 36.7 out of 10 applications were excluded from the updated list of beneficiaries. This occurred after most marshals' offices withdrew from co-financing the purchase. They should provide funds for their own contributions. Local governments are especially hampered by too high a share of required funding.
