The Body Shop's problems are endless. A well-known cosmetics chain failed to survive in other countries – this week the company was declared bankrupt by a Dutch court. The brand announced bankruptcy in the Netherlands via a Facebook post. He assured that for now, local stores will remain open, and the bankruptcy trustee is analyzing the possibility of continuing The Body Shop's operations in these markets.
However, Dutch customers can no longer redeem gift vouchers at The Body Shop locations. The store's website has also been unavailable in the country for some time. According to the brand's official statement, this is due to a planned update, but nothing has changed for months.
This cosmetics chain has 27 branches in the Netherlands, employing around 100 people, including temporary workers.

The future of The Body Shop is increasingly being questioned. In February 2024, the network faced bankruptcy proceedings in its home country – the United Kingdom. The company later announced it would close 75 stores in the UK and lay off 489 employees.
