The day before the 5G 2.0 auction: price storm, organizer failure

On Thursday afternoon, the Office of Electronic Communications published the non-ownership position it accepted for a frequency auction project in the 700 and 800 MHz range. We have reviewed it for readers.

The spirit of the LTE auction was frightening: a small failure at UKE

Shortly before the vacancies were posted on the office website, the UKE website experienced a minor failure. “Website is temporarily unavailable. Maintenance is in progress!” – you can read. Those who remember the famous LTE auction in 2015 probably suspected that – both then and now – the auction would be delayed due to technical problems.

In 2014, Magdalena Gaj, then chair of UKE cancel the auction because the attachment posted on the office website along with an explanation of the auction documentation cannot be opened. The procedure takes several months.

Late and mysterious

But nowadays, “maintenance work” does not last long. And now you can see that UKE calculated the 12 submitted positions correctly. Three of them are reserved (second and third positions Polska Orange and the only Polkomtel, from the Cyfrowy Polsat group). Digital Poland Foundation expressed its opinion (we mentioned its content) after the deadline. Individuals and Polmed organizations – without written form – the office is informed.
