The right-wing opposition party “Alternative for Germany” (AzG) welcomed the collapse of Chancellor Olaf Scholz's governing coalition and described it as long overdue and a “liberation for Germany”, DPA reported.
The AfD leaders in the lower house of parliament, the Bundestag, Alice Weidel and Tino Krupala, last night accused the three-way coalition of Scholz's German Social Democratic Party (GSDP), the Green Party and the liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP) that because of its power, Germany has stepped into the economic abyss.
“After weeks of deadlock and countless self-serving therapy sessions, we now urgently need fundamental political change to lead the economy and the country as a whole out of the deep crisis we are experiencing thanks to the ideologically motivated politics of the GSDP. , Green Party and SDP,” they added.
Both urged Scholz to provide final assistance to Germany and immediately demanded a vote of confidence.
Last night, the chancellor said he would seek a vote of no confidence on January 15 after sacking finance minister and SDP leader Christian Lindner the previous night.
