Another rabies outbreak occurred in Lublin province

A further outbreak of rabies was detected in Lublin Province – informs RMF FM journalist Dominik Smaga. Currently this region is the region most at risk of this disease in Poland.

Another four rabies outbreaks were detected in Lublin Province, in the districts of Zamość, Tomaszów and Hrubieszów.

Since early October, 10 rabies outbreaks have been detected there. This number is far compared to other countries.

The disease has been confirmed throughout Poland since early 2024 18 such cases, including 15 in Lublin province.

Veterinary services advise against approaching wild animals. Special attention should be paid to wild animals that show no fear of humans.

If someone is bitten, the wound should be washed immediately. Preferably for a few minutes with running water and detergent. The best in this case is a 70 proof spirit. Call your doctor immediately – Monika Michałowska from the Provincial Veterinary Inspectorate in Lublin said for RMF FM.

He also reminded that rabies is considered the most dangerous zoonotic disease. This disease cannot be cured and is fatal. All warm-blooded animals, including humans, suffer from this disease.
