Bulgarian competitors won two medals on the first day of the European Taekwondo Olympic Cadet Championships in Tirana (Albania).

Veselin Angelova was ranked second in the 47 kilogram category after four matches played. Club competitors Gladiators recorded three wins – over Lorena Loria (Italy), Olena Ponizovska (Ukraine) and Estella Pshikhacheva (Russia). In the final, the national player lost to the representative of Serbia, Jana Duranović.

Yordan Angelov leaves Albania with bronze. In the 57 kilogram category, Hristo Mikhalchev's graduate beat Kaloyan Ivanov and Bora Ozdelic (Turkey), but in the semifinals he was unable to overcome Valery Makovsky from Russia.
