Our mission is to protect Bulgarian citizens from criminal encroachment, said Acting Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov while marking the Bulgarian police's professional holiday at a ceremony on the grounds of the General Directorate of National Police.
We are also asked to meet Europe's high expectations, said the Interior Minister.
With the support and trust of citizens and institutions, we will continue to be the guardians of Bulgarian society, Ilkov said. In his words, being a police officer is responsibility, perseverance and work, and most importantly, a calling.
Main Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Miroslav Rashkov also congratulated his colleagues. “The fight against crime is not just a one-time thing, it happens every day,” he said. Rashkov added that the assessment of the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was given by the public.
During the ceremony, police leaders were awarded honorary badges from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
