Chairman From Simo Paas (sd.) is the biggest revenue magnate of the Salo city council. His taxable income increased to more than 140,000 euros last year.
Longtime Mayor Haliko retired from office at the end of 2008. Most people's incomes halve when they retire, but Paassilta is not satisfied with just playing golf.
In his eighties, this man is still actively involved in politics, and holds several positions of trust.
– Most of my income comes from my pension fund, and it grows as the pension fund grows. In addition, meeting costs arise from fiduciary obligations while I am involved in them.
Paassilta indicated that he received capital income of more than 30,000 euros last year.
– I sell investments when I buy housing. This is a one time thing and will not happen again. Otherwise, my income barely changes, he said.
Paassilta actively travels around the country as chairman of the Finnish Federation of Pensioners, EKL, but he does not receive a salary from the union. The chairman's annual salary is several hundred.
Taxes from Simo Paassi paid almost 53,000 euros last year.
– I'm a pretty good taxpayer. In this context, it is important to note that taxes paid on pensions are higher than taxes paid on salary income, he said.
