The incident occurred on Friday morning, at around 07.45, when a road unit led by a 56-year-old Ukrainian citizen appeared in border to enter Romania. The vehicle registered in Ukraine was officially transporting PVC granules on the Türkiye-Ukraine route.
During border surveillance, police officers discovered a man hidden in a bag inside a vehicle. The person, a 30-year-old man, had no identity documents and verbally stated that he was a Syrian citizen.
Based on the Romanian-Bulgarian protocol, both the driver of the road vehicle and the Syrian national were handed over to the Bulgarian authorities for further investigation and implementation of necessary legal measures.
