According to the statement AEPthe accreditation process is carried out based on AEP Decree no. 22/2024 concerning Presidential Elections and Decree no. 31/2024 for the parliamentary elections of 1 December 2024.
According to the AEP decision, non-governmental organizations in Romania, which wish to appoint internal monitors, must be legally established at least six months before the election date and carry out activities to defend democracy and human rights. The application for accreditation must be accompanied by a copy of the organization's articles of association and the founding court decision.
International observers and representatives of foreign media institutions can apply for accreditation to monitor election implementation. AEP stated that Romanian mass media representatives had access to polling stations based on their identity documents and journalist identity cards. They can attend from 06.00 until they finish recording the voting results.
