They said INE was being rational, because the budget was proposed in 2025

President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum call to National Electoral Institute (IN THE) was rational about what he described as an “excessive” budget he requested for 2025, when elections for judges, magistrates and ministers will take place for the first time.

“How about more resources? …If parties and candidates don't have funding, why do they want that much money?” asked the President.

For this reason, he also asked the DPR to review the budget requested by INE which exceeded 13 billion pesos.

He acknowledged that in the Budget project, the Executive should include the budget proposed by the INE, “but that is a call for rationality, exceptionalism is not appropriate at this time.”

He said the resources proposed by the organization that will be tasked with carrying out the selection of judges are more meaningful than the entire youth program that builds the future.
