“America will stop this war, first of all they will not encourage war,” Orban, a close Trump ally, told a national radio station on Friday, just before an informal European Union summit he hosted in the Hungarian capital.
“Europe cannot finance this war alone. (…) Some still want to continue sending large sums of money for the defeat of this war, but the number of those who remain silent (…) and those who cautiously argue that we must adapt to the new situation is increasing “, he also said.
Apart from the United States, the EU and its member states are among the largest donors of military and financial aid to Ukraine, and most European leaders have expressed strong support for continuing on this path.
