Strictly Come Dancing star, 50, welcomes third baby and shares name fit for a superstar

Iwan Thomas, a Welsh Olympian and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, is now a proud father of three. He recently shared the exciting news of his latest addition to the family, a beautiful baby boy named Bowie.

Born in January, Bowie has already been introduced to his older brothers, five-year-old Teddy and two-year-old Dougie. Posting a sweet picture of his three sons on social media, Iwan, 50, wrote: “The Thomas brothers [heart] literally my world right there #mylife #love #blessed.”

Many friends and fans didn’t delay in sending their best wishes to the family. One wrote: “Awwww congrats Iwan – blessed with three gorgeous wee lads.”

While another said: “Congratulations to you both! Beautiful boys – you must be so proud.”

Celebrity MasterChef star Iwan and his partner chose not to announce they were expecting and instead waited until Bowie was born.

To introduce him officially, Iwan shared a cute video of baby Bowie bundled up in a blanket. The caption read: “And then there were 3 boys – Meet Bowie 7lbs12 18/1/24. Big thanks to all at Princess Anne hospital who were fantastic.”

Reflecting on fatherhood, Iwan admitted that though he used to be very focused on himself as a high-level athlete, now his world revolves around his kids. Talking to Express.co.uk, he confessed becoming a dad “puts things into perspective”.

He said: “Being a dad just totally shifts your mindset about everything really. You know, I’ve spent my whole life being a sportsman and having to be very selfish and single-minded and focused on myself. Now, being a dad, nothing’s about me anymore. It’s all about the boys.”

The star’s little boy Teddy had a tough start when he was born, spending his first 10 days fighting for his life in intensive care because of Group B Strep.

Talking to the Mirror, the famous runner explained: “We had never heard of it. Teddy was born and then four hours later he began breathing funny and the midwife said that’s not right. He went downhill really, really quickly. I went from being the happiest man alive to the lowest point where my son was in intensive care.

“I remember four doctors we hadn’t seen before were around him and they said we need to take him straight away and do a lumbar puncture. They were worried he would get meningitis and it would get to his spinal fluid and brain.”

Thankfully, Teddy got better and is now doing great as a big brother.
