Time Bandits, the TV series inspired by Terry Gilliam's cult film, has been cancelled by Apple TV+ after just one season.
If you were a fan Time Bandits on Apple TV+, you might be a little upset to learn that the streaming service cancelled series after just one season.
Inspired by Terry Gilliam's beloved cult classic of the same name, Time Bandits tells the story “An unpredictable journey through time and space with a ragtag group of thieves and their newest recruit: an 11-year-old history buff named Kevin. Together, they embark on a thrilling adventure to save the boy's parents—and the world.“While the series received decent reviews, it failed to attract a large enough audience and failed to crack the top 10 in the Nielsen streaming ratings for all ten episodes.
The series stars Lisa Kudrow, who hosted “An eccentric band of bandits embarks on epic adventures as evil forces threaten their conquests and life as they know it. As the group travels through time and space, the gang stumbles upon fascinating worlds from the distant past, searching for treasure, relying on Kevin to shed light on each situation. The Time Bandits witness the creation of Stonehenge, see the Trojan Horse in action, escape dinosaurs in prehistoric times, wreak havoc in the Middle Ages, experience the Ice Age, ancient civilizations, the Harlem Renaissance, and more along the way.«
Series co-creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi revealed earlier this summer that they had in fact been working on scripts for second season series.We are actually writing a second season, but it depends on who watches the first season,“Clement said.”If no one watches, we throw it in the trash. But I can't tell you because I don't want to ruin the second season.“It's a disgrace.
Our own Alex Madey was a fan of the show and believed it paved the way for another season.Each episode builds to the next and leaves you wanting more, leading up to the next episode without relying on artificial cliffhangers or false leads. This cast is incredibly likable, and the story is silly enough to appease the youngest viewers without alienating more discerning audiences,“Written by Madi.”I smiled watching this series. Although it was made without Terry Gilliam's blessing, I'd like to think the iconic director would be pleased with the way Waititi and Clement have brought this story to a new generation.
