Martinez returns to Argentina squad after suspension, Berenechea gets first call-up

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez returned to Argentina's squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers after serving suspension, while Valencia midfielder Enzo Berenechea received his first call-up from coach Lionel Scaloni.

The Aston Villa goalkeeper will resume international duty after serving a two-match ban for “arrogant behavior and fair play breaches”.

In the match against Chile, Martinez committed an indecent act with the Copa America trophy, and after the defeat against Colombia, he punched the camera on local television.

Berenechea has been named in Scaloni's squad for the first time, the 23-year-old making seven appearances and scoring once for Valencia, where he is on loan from Villa this season.

Youngsters Alejandro Garnacho, Nicolas Paz and Facundo Buonanotte, from Manchester United, Como and Leicester respectively, have been called up as part of a changing generation of world and Copa America champions.

Captain Lionel Messi will lead Argentina away to Paraguay on November 14, before they host Peru five days later.

Argentina leads the South American standings with 22 points, three more than second-placed Colombia.
