The Rio de Janeiro Court this Tuesday (5) ordered the release of 10 of the 21 Uruguayan fans arrested for their involvement in the clashes that occurred on October 23, in the West Zone of Rio , from the Court of Fans and Large Events, deeming the delay in filing the complaint by the Prosecutor's Office an extension of time preventive detention of the accused.
Although the judge acknowledged that there was evidence of the defendants' involvement in the riots and violence, the judge understood that a prolonged prison sentence without formalizing the complaint could not be justified. Therefore, alternative precautionary measures were put in place, such as bi-monthly attendance at the Supporters' Court, a ban on attending sporting events, and a ban on leaving the country until the trial.
Eleven other fans will remain jailed as their cases are still being analyzed by the courts.
