Greek authorities have recovered the bodies of four migrants – three men and one woman – after a boat sank near the Aegean island of Rhodes, the Greek coast guard said today, as quoted by Reuters.
Another 25 people were found on land by Greek police, and search and rescue operations continued, the coast guard added.
Greece has been the gateway of choice to the European Union for migrants and refugees from the Middle East, Africa and Asia since 2015, when nearly one million people arrived on the islands.
