The Taliban government in Afghanistan expressed hope for improved relations with the US following the results of the presidential election, DPA reported.
The Taliban Foreign Ministry expressed its hope that the two countries would be able to open a new page in their relations based on mutual commitment. The ministry noted that the agreement with the Taliban, signed in Doha in 2020 during Donald Trump's first term, ended the 20-year US-led war in Afghanistan.
The Taliban ministry expressed hope that the new US administration would play a constructive role in ending hostilities in the Middle East, particularly “the ongoing repression and aggressive actions in Gaza and Lebanon”.
