The newly elected President of the United States from the Republican Party, Donald Trump, accepted Joe Biden's invitation to his second meeting at the White House, his campaign team announced last night, as quoted by DPA.
Trump won a historic second term as president after defeating Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential election.
Biden called Trump to congratulate him on his victory and reiterated his invitation for the two to meet at the White House to discuss a smooth transition of power, President-elect Stephen Chung's campaign spokesman said.
“President Trump looks forward to the meeting that will take place soon and greatly appreciates the call,” he added.
Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to Biden. Until now, he was still reluctant to admit his defeat. Trump did not attend Biden's inauguration ceremony, breaking tradition, DPA recalled.
The American president will address the nation at 11:00 local time (16:00 GMT) today, the White House announced last night.
