US President Joe Biden last night praised his Vice President Kamala Harris following her loss in the presidential election to Republican Donald Trump, DPA reported.
“He will remain the leader our children look to with hope for generations to come as he leaves his mark on America's future,” Biden said in a statement.
Harris, who succeeded Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee in July, is “an extraordinary partner and public servant of integrity, courage and character,” Biden said. “Under extraordinary circumstances, he stepped forward and led a historic campaign, the epitome of what is possible when led with strong morals and a clear vision for a country that is freer, fairer, and full of more opportunities for all Americans, he added. .
Biden also said that choosing Harris as vice president was the best decision he had ever made.
“His story represents the best in American history. And as he explained today, I have no doubt he will continue to write that story,” Biden said.
Harris acknowledged her election defeat in a speech in Washington after US media predicted that Trump was the clear winner in the states of North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
