Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that his government will introduce legislation banning social networking for people under the age of 16, Reuters reported.
“The burden is on social networks to prove that they are taking concrete steps to prevent access,” Albanese said at a press conference. “This will not happen to the elderly and the younger generation.”
The law will be submitted to parliament this year and will come into effect 12 months after lawmakers pass it, he added.
