REBEL. The green light from the provincial council for the construction of a tram that should connect, according to the intention of the promoter, Oltradige, from Caldaro to Bolzano. Yesterday, the provincial council approved a motion submitted by the Green Group and changed its discussion points. «To solve the traffic problem in Alto Adige, public transport must be a real priority. With an estimated timeframe of 20 years to complete the tram project, starting now is crucial to make public transport more attractive and improve the quality of life”, said Green councilors Zeno Oberkofler, Brigitte Foppa, Madeleine Rohrer.
The motion states that the Municipality is urged to communicate their proposals to the Province regarding a tram line for Oltradige, so that, together, we can proceed to concrete planning of the project. In addition, the council should take steps to request funding from the state and Europe. “The tram to Oltradige has been talked about for too long. With the approval of our motion, new perspectives open up for this strategic project of South Tyrolean mobility.
An important opportunity for Oltradige and Bolzano, which absolutely must be exploited and realized”, concluded the first signee Oberkofler
