The European Political Community meeting will be held in the Hungarian capital, with 40 heads of government meeting there to discuss the political situation in Europe and abroad, especially in the context of the elections in the US and the collapse of the German ruling coalition.
The Polish Prime Minister said the American elections would have serious consequences from the point of view of European security policy. – Today I met personally with the President of France and the Prime Minister of England. Strengthening Poland and Europe's common policy, especially in the security aspect, is the greatest need of the hour, the Prime Minister said.
– Politics is a matter of interests and institutions, not personal sympathy. We should view the results of elections abroad with great respect, Tusk said, assuring that together with the new American president, the Polish government will work together – along with other European governments – to consolidate good Polish-American and trans-Atlantic relations.
Tusk says Poland has it well-defined and permanent interests – this is the basis of Polish politics. – I will be guided precisely by these needs and interests of Poland, – he announced.
