“I got the answer after a discussion in a public space regarding the topic raised regarding the possibility of technology that could influence, in an unauthorized way, the election campaign. Currently, after very applied discussions with other authorities in Romania that have direct attribution in the implementation of the rights and obligations of this social network, hopefully ANCOM and AEP, following the report that we forwarded to the Meta and TikTok platforms, we have received a report highlighting that today “here in Romania, dozens of accounts have been identified representing several organized networks trying to obtain unauthorized content to promote certain candidates in these presidential and parliamentary elections”, said the minister.
These accounts are blocked: “We're talking about every avatar of dozens or hundreds of other accounts behind that account.”
The minister stated that investigations were ongoing as dozens of complaints had been made.
The Minister of Finance also appealed to residents to immediately report suspicious accounts.
