His memory was honored by laying a wreath at the mausoleum of Prince Alexander I Battenberg in Sofia.
The military ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Defense on the occasion of the 139th anniversary of the battle of Slivnica during the Serbo-Bulgarian War (November 5 – 7, 1885) and the 131st anniversary of the death of the first Bulgarian prince (November 17, 1893.). An honor guard from a National Guard unit and representatives of the Guard brass band participated in the ritual.
Just as Unification is only a Bulgarian matter, so victory in this war is only a matter of the Bulgarian Army, acting Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov said after the ceremony. We must pay tribute to those who died in the war and the prince who had the courage to be commander-in-chief at that time, led the battle, accepted the risk and defended the capital, not surrendered it, the minister said.
Wreaths were presented on behalf of the President, Minister of Defense, Chief of Defense and the Defense Committee of the National Assembly. Residents also left flowers.
