In the municipality of Pleven, eight of the city's 20 dams are dry. This matter was reported to the BTA by the local government.
The dams of Slavyanovo 3, Nikolaevo 4, Verbitsa 2, Todorovo, Gabrovets, Pelishat 1, Tuchenitsa 2 and Tuchenitsa 3 have dried up. The last two dams dried up completely in the first year, the city said.
Due to dry weather, the remaining 12 dams have reduced the amount of water, the local government added.
There are a hundred dams in the Pleven region, according to information from the Regional Government. No one provides water for drinking purposes.
Since mid-August, a water regime has been in effect in populated areas of the Pleven region. The reason is the very small amount of water coming from the Cherni Osam water supply group and the drastic reduction in the flow rate of shaft wells from the Bivolare, Krusovitsa and Dolna Mitropolia water supply groups, as a result of permanent drought. This regime applies in the cities of Pleven, Dolna Mitropolia and Trastenikas well as for the villages of Bivolare, Pobeda, Bukovlak, Nikolaevo, Opanets, Yasen, Bohot, Brestovets, Kashin, Laskar, Ralevo and Todorovo.
