A building collapsed after an explosion was reported, early Thursday (7), at Conjunto Maceió 1, in the Cidade Universitária neighborhood, in Maceió. Three deaths have been confirmed: a 10-year-old boy, his 67-year-old grandfather, and another man whose age was not disclosed.
Information stated that the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder. However, this hypothesis has not been confirmed and will be verified after examination.
The Fire Department (CB) was called to the incident at around 04:39, initially sending eight vehicles with 22 troopers. The incident was described as the collapse of an apartment building and a team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was also called.
With the collapse, a lot of dust filled the place, and rubble was scattered everywhere, creating a scene of destruction. Local residents reported that the sound was very loud and windows and PVC parts were thrown out due to the explosion.
