“We played a good tactical game. This was one of our best games of the season, we are going in the right direction. We deserved the three points.
Athletic Bilbao have a great squad and they took advantage of our momentary hesitation. They managed to score two goals and beat us.
We regret this defeat, but we played against one of the strongest teams in the Europa League. We level up and improve. Athletic is an extraordinary team. We achieved maximum results, but it was clearly not enough.
The most important thing is that the players are available and ready for the upcoming match. I can imagine what would happen if one of my players were injured. In the last two days (Ivaylo) Chochev had a fever and maybe the match would have been different. Athletic Bilbao took their chances, we didn't. We keep fighting. The next game is the most important.”
