The case against businessman Vasil Bozhkov continues with the examination of five witnesses. This was the third day in a row that the Sofia City Court held a hearing so that more than 20 people could provide explanations.
The judge told the witnesses they had to answer questions and not lie.
Yesterday, Stefana Raykova, a witness in the Bozhkov case, told the courtthat he was threatened by investigators when he was arrested along with other State Gambling Commission (SGA) officials in January 2020.
On Wednesday Boyan and Tsvetomir Naydenov were questioned. The two brothers talked about their acquaintance and business ties with Vasil Bozhkov. They also recalled that in 2019, Bozhkov threatened them that he would “end” them and “gave us a month to think about whether we would transfer 51% of the other company to him.” After that Bozhkov said told the media that there were no words to explain what happened and defined the brothers' words as a made-up thesis.
Businessman Vasil Bozhkov is a defendant in an organized crime group investigation for crimes of extortion, officialdom and corruption.
Bozhkov was brought to justice as an instigator involved with officials from the State Gambling Commission, which allowed fees due under the Gambling Act not to be collected in full. The result of this criminal act resulted in losses to the APBN amounting to BGN 559,739,164.70.
