This is the second consecutive month of increase in the trade deficit, which reached 6.7 billion euros in July and 7.4 billion euros in August, according to revised figures released on Friday.

However the pace of this reduction slowed and the deficit reached 82.4 billion euros over the 12 months.

In detail, France's energy balance worsened in September by 100 million euros “after several months of continuous improvement”, to 4.5 billion euros. The decline was caused by imports increasing slightly while exports were stable, customs said.
Ex-energy balance sheet deterioration continued, amounting to 5.2 billion euros, compared with 4.6 billion euros in the previous month. The manufacturing product balance was the main contributor to this decline.
